Preparing for Your Cardiac Stress Test

To help ensure your stress test goes smoothly and provides accurate results, please review the following instructions before your appointment.

Before Your Appointmen
-
Shower and Shave your chest area (if needed): Please shower on the morning of your test. If you have hair on your chest, shave the area where the electrodes will be placed so the ECG leads can attach properly to your skin.
-
Do not apply lotions, oils, talcum powder or other skin products to your chest. These may interfere with the electrode contact.
-
Medication List: Bring an up-to-date list of all your current medications, including any over-the-counter drugs or supplements.
-
Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing suitable for exercise (e.g., T-shirt and track pants).
-
Footwear: Please wear or bring comfortable running or walking shoes—you will be walking or jogging on a treadmill.
-
Food and Drink: Unless otherwise instructed by your physician, you may have a light meal before your test and continue taking your usual medications with water.
During Your Visit
-
Your appointment will usually take about 45–60 minutes in total, including preparation and recovery time.
-
ECG electrodes will be placed on your chest to monitor your heart rhythm while you exercise on a treadmill under supervision.
Parking
-
Please note that parking fees apply, and you should pay for at least one hour to allow enough time for your visit.
